The International Symposium on Fatigue Design & Material Defects to be held at NTNU, Trondheim, 23-25 May 2011. The symposium is organised by the Department of Engineering Design and Materials, NTNU, Trondheim, and the Swedish Fatigue Network, UTMIS.

Topics for abstract submission include:

  • Assessment of fatigue endurance taking material defects into account – standard and novel predictive methods.
  • Mapping of material defects by means of non-destructive testing (standard and novel techniques) or microscopy.
  • Statistical distribution of defects.
  • Initiation and growth of fatigue cracks from defects – mechanisms and models.
  • Development of design standards.

Deadline for extended abstracts is 15 October 2010.

Detailed information about the symposium may be found at http://www.ntnu.no/videre/konferanse/FatigueDefects2011/.
